Hyundai Creta gets a feature BOOST for 2019

The Hyundai Creta is India’s best selling SUV, and there’s a reason why this vehicle continues to occupy the top  spot, month after month – constant updates. Hyundai has been updating the Creta every other year since launch, and  this has ensured that the SUV remains fresh despite growing competition. The latest updates for the Creta for 2019 have arrived.

Rear parking sensors, speed alerts and seat belt reminder are safety features that are now standard across all  variants of the Creta. These safety feature additions come at a time when the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment  Program (BNVSAP) norms are just about to kick in. All variants of the Creta have had ABS and twin airbags as  standard, and this continues even with the 2019 edition of the SUV.

Other feature changes include the addition of LED tail lamps pn the SX, SX (O) and SX (O) Executive variants. If  you’ve been following the Hyundai Creta closely, you’ll also notice that a new top-end variant called the SX (O)  Executive has now been added to the SUV’s line-up. This variant adds ventilated seats, and gets all other features  that are available on the SX(O) trim.

Another change on the 2019 Creta is the fact that the SX Manual variant now gets a dual tone paint job, a styling  detail that was previously available only with the SX(O) variants. Mechanically, the 2019 Hyundai Creta remains  unchanged. It gets petrol and diesel engine options, and manual and automatic gearbox options. All variants of the  compact SUV are front wheel driven.

Talking of the engines, the base variant of the Creta gets a 1.4 liter diesel motor with 89 Bhp-220 Nm on tap. This  engine is paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Notably, the base variant of the Creta is the most popular one, with  buyers choosing to opt for this variant and then hit the aftermarket route for customization. Moving up, there’s a  1.6 liter petrol engine with 121 Bhp-151 Nm on tap. This motor gets 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

The top-end diesel variants of the Creta get a 1.6 liter turbocharged motor with 126 Bhp-260 Nm outputs. This engine gets 6 speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The 1.6 liter diesel motor on the Creta is the punchiest engine in India’s compact SUV space, and gives the SUV some really quick acceleration. Thanks to this, the Creta is the fastest compact SUV in its segment.

In 2018, Hyundai gave the Creta a major facelift. The facelift added a slew of features to the compact SUV, and also  gave it a mild stylistic makeover. The Creta is reaching the end of its life cycle, and will be replaced by an all-  new model in 2020. The new Creta will be larger, and will have three rows of seats. It will also have Bharat Stage 6  compliant petrol and diesel engines. The new Creta is also expected to be hybrid and electric-powertrain ready.
