Spec Your Personal New 911 (992) With Porsche’s Official Configurator

The new Porsche 911 has been finally revealed, and the German company was quick to launch the model’s online configurator.

You can choose to spec either the new Carrera S or the Carrera 4S, as these are the first models Porsche chose to launch in the market, with the first customer cars expected to be delivered in the summer of 2019.

Perhaps the biggest inconvenience for early 911 buyers will be the absence of the seven-speed manual transmission, as Porsche will not add the option for at least 12 months, so if you want to be one of the first to get the new 992, you’re stuck with the new eight-speed PDK (poor you!).

The new Porsche 911 Carrera S is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine, producing 23hp more than the previous model, at 443hp (450PS). Combined with the new eight-speed PDK, the new generation of the iconic German sports car can hit 60mph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds (4S: 3.4 seconds). Add the optional Sports Chrono pack and the time drops by a further 0.2 seconds. That’s some eye-opening acceleration figures for the amount of firepower hiding under the skin. Top speed is set at 191mph (307km/h).

The configurator lets you choose all the usual stuff -including a series of special exterior colors, wheels and interior specification- as well as play you a short clip of the engine sound.

The options list also contains an adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function and lane keep assist, matrix LED headlights and Night Vision Assist that utilizes a thermal imaging camera.
